"Electronic Device Detector"
The HAWK 450XD "Electronic Device Detector" is widely used in EOD search operations to detect hidden electronic devices such as remotely activated receivers, timing and power units of improvised explosive devices, regardless of whether the device is radiating, hard-wired or turned off.
The XD is used by Security Managers, Professional Sweep Teams, State Security Departments, EOD Search Teams, Police Forces and Counter-Intelligence Agencies. The device is currently in operational service with NATO, USA Army & UK MoD organisations.
Examples of devices detected are attachments to telephone or mains cables, receivers which activate explosive devices, transmitters of all types, tape recorders, hidden cameras, wired electric microphone systems, electronic timing devices, remotely activated receivers, timing and power units of improvised explosive devices.
The HAWK 450XD is currently being trailed by prison services as a search tool for locating cellular phones hidden in prison cells. Unlike conventional cellular detectors the HAWK 450XD will detect and locate cell phones even when switched off.
